I’ve read one of Ramsey’s Books and while some of his advice is good, it really seems best for people who are in a deep hole or have little self restraint. He brings up good points on investing young and living with in your means but many of his tactics are better suited for people struggling with debt, not those who

This guy is a fucking idiot. If car loans were like 25% interest, I’d agree with him...pay cash. But they aren’t. You’re be hard pressed to pay more than 4% if you have decent credit, and even at that rate, your money can make more money for you almost anywhere (save for a bank savings account). As for the used vs new

My wife has a mk4 TDI, and I have to say, it’s been an absolutely astounding car. I get the impression that the diesel models are kind of their own thing vs. the gassers, though. We’ve got 220k on ours, and it’s literally never stranded us, and has needed maybe $500 of work outside of regular maintenance and wear

why in the hell are you using math examples showing a 72 month loan. 6 years to pay off a car? Am i the only one who thinks thats insane?

$300 OVER invoice? You should have jumped up and down and taken him right to the finance office. We all know those invoice numbers are as phony as a $3 bill. Shit, I just had a dealer show me the "invoice" on a car, and their price was actually already LOWER stating that with the rebates and crap, it comes out less.

So it appears that you fall into the “high-profit, low satisfaction” camp?

Thank god the car salesman is going the way of the dodo. Nobody will miss experiencing your attitude as a hurdle to purchasing a car.

You are the reason people do not like car salesmen.

Your story would be a little better if you had seen him again. But you didn’t. You know why? Because someone else who wasn’t a dumb$@# sold him a car and made some money.

I also get a kick out of the customers who find out what invoice pricing is on a particular vehicle, then proceed to tell you what your fair profit is.

You know a better sales person would of sold him a car....right? This cracks me up!

Well, fuck that customer - but you’re still a scumbag.

I used this strategy to sell my car actually to a dealer, but uh, with a reasonable 10% GP. Not under 1%. What an ass.

It’s clear you have a disdain for your customers, but this is exactly how I car shop. I know invoice, money factor, residual, etc. when I go in to lease a car. I won’t make the salesperson or the F&I guy a huge profit on my transaction, but I’m not going to play games or waste my time/their time. The first lease I

You are the reason people hate dealerships.

Reason #1 I bought a Tesla: not dealing with this, right here.

Comedy. That’s exactly how I’ve purchased my last ... five? vehicles as well as two for friends. It doesn’t work on all stealerships but if you time it right, there’s going to be some desperate leech who will bite at invoice pricing or invoice + a pittance.

As annoying as guys like that are, I can’t wait until dealers disappear. The ultimate middle-men, and probably the most useless.
