I did read the article.
I did read the article.
Jett isn’t an idiot. If she was protecting herself and her reputation, the easiest thing would be to say what people like to hear nowadays,”I was young and ignorant decades ago, now my eyes have been opened to xyz. Let’s go on a reunion tour and sing kumbaya”. Everyone would say what a stand-up gal she is while they…
Or,you know, they’re all telling the truth AS THEY KNOW IT.
Even assuming there really are people who heard Jett and Currie do this for a fact, talking and snickering about it doesn’t mean they thought or knew it was rape then or even now. Since they’re also women, I’d say making fun of it would be more likely to mean they hadn’t paid attention to how far it went and merely…
I think you’re assuming that if I say the rape happening wasn’t obvious it means I don’t believe it did. That’s not what I mean. I think Fuchs was raped and I totally understand that it could be the bystander effect that accounts for no one reacting, but the two people being called out as having passively witnessed…
Thanks for the link.
So why didn’t these “numerous” witnesses do anything if it was so obvious that a rape was occuring? The logical answer would be that it’s because it wasn’t obvious. If so how likely are you to remember something if you didn’t notice it in the first place some 40 years ago?
What I don’t believe is that she has the ability to know what someone else saw or knew. These people weren’t her friends, they were teens randomly picked to be in a band who likely were more focused on getting than paying attention. And, since there were plenty of adults there she could be calling out for seeing this…
If those 10 people are certain Jet and Currie were there it must be because they were there and since the only teens present were the artists these 10 are adults who didn’t intervene hopefully because they were clueless as to what was going on, why is it OK for them to assume the teens knew better than they did?
I would never bet that two people saw something happen just because I believe they were looking at it. If presence was the same as awareness finding reliable witnesses to crimes wouldn’t be so difficult.
If they’re whores she’s a madonna.Way more women are fine with that than we think including the wives of incestuous fathers and serial killers.
Wow, that such an interesting fact to learn.Thank-you!
I'm definitely going to re-read this book after seeing your posts. As a child all of this flew over my head so I didn't like the story (I had the same reaction to Gulliver's Travels for similar reasons). But, as an allegory it sounds very interesting.
Remember the Asian teacher who spit in his student’s mouth and told him to swallow? That's the level, and then some.
They weren’t red in the book. I read it around the same time as the movie aired on tv and noticed that fact. A documentary I saw much later mentioned that the slippers were made red to show off the new technicolor effects the studio had- that’s also why they had the movie go from b&w to vivid color after Dorothy lands…
My first thought when I read this.
Someone may have a better answer than me but I think Dorothy’s house landed on the Wicked Witch of the West after being picked up in Kansas by the tornado. That witch was wearing the Ruby Slippers and Dorothy got them (from the grateful Munchkins?). I also dimly recall that seeing her relatives slippers on Dorothy is…
Thank-you.
Seriously though I’m rarely followed but when I am I take full advantage of my escort: asking where stuff is, questioning them about the merchandise, etc. They are usually not amused but what are they going to do about it? They grit their teeth and help me like I'm some VIP. Oddly enough next time they see me come…
