So more than just the 2 airbags+seatbelts then? I’m aware many cars now feature “bonus” airbags but I don’t think they’re strictly mandatory (at least at the federal level)

Counterpoint. Waylon Jennings also demonstrated this...more successfully on average.

Do we need all of those things? I know we need some of them in order to laugh in CAFE’s general direction with a V8 that gets 27mpg but if infotainment, stability control, launch control, etc. are required then I am a Chinese jet pilot. Air bags and crash testing are not new requirements.

The C4 electronics weren’t all that complex either unless you mean the goofy dash or electronic adjustable seats. It had a port injected EFI bolted to a SBC. Construction wise it was slightly different with the transverse fiberglass springs but yes it seems like it shouldn’t have been expensive to build when

The full electronic dash on the Corvette only went from 84-89. I actually kind of liked it but it was difficult to read if you got full sun on the display.

You joke but no those are fully legit. Look around and airport sometime and you'll see plenty of little kids in leash and harness....or you would have 6 months ago

Now playing

Its probably wrong to say it out loud, but I will anyway...

Do we even need more Hubble telescopes? The CIA generously donated two of their "extras" to NASA ages ago.

I expect nothing less from the Apple of the car world. Best of luck getting that car "unbricked"

I sentence you to 5 years in a Hyundai Pony/Excel. Be sure to turn on the heater when sitting in traffic because... reasons.

IIRC it was white male land owners. Being white and male did not entitle you to a vote. By that logic even indentured servants would get a say.

On a 1 ton chassis you may not have any rear sheet metal at all, and my dad’s custom camper C20 did indeed come with one of those bumper/hitch setups.

If only it were still cool to put headphone jacks on cellular phones none of this would be an issue

Small island nations whose major revenue comes from tourism...will probably be okay with this. Perhaps they shouldn't be, but that's a different discussion.

Best of luck. Unfortunately the days of simple overbuilt appliances came and went. As bad as my parents 5 temperature electric grill was (no varistor here), I was able to get parts for it 50 years later. I don’t trust a single thing not to go ... up inside of 10 years and the odds of any spares are small unless there

I’m sure max rpm is not ideal for any stroker engine, large boats are all I6 (or some other internally balanced multiple of that) aren’t they? As to the TH400, it was probably the best you could get from the factory, since it also guaranteed you a 12 bolt rear end. That 10 bolt was the Achilles heel of GM cars before

The sooner CEOs and board members start going to prison the sooner this behavior will change.

The whole point of these track runs is to run stupid numbers. If you are driving like that it probably makes sense. If you are driving to Costco you should probably invest in a 4 wheel alignment

Wow, you have clearly fast forwarded a bit. All of the smog things you ascribe to the 1990s happened by 1976 except the car banning bit, which relates to VW diesel emissions cheating

If it flies, floats or f..... it's cheaper to rent. That said, my dad's 454/TH400 went over 300k
