1997 Honda XR650L.

Nice Funduro!

Come to Iowa. The land of 1,000 C7s. All driven by old dudes doing 50 in a 55.

That’s funny because when I see vettes around here, and I sure see a LOT of vettes, i can’t help but think “Damn, that 45 year old guy’s gold chain is really shiny.”

WHAT - Current whip: 83 XV500

I ride:

I started riding in 2006 as a mid-life crisis. Both my Parents died at around 60 and I was just over 30. So, yeah. It happened. I had a few K from my Mom’s life insurance. That bought my first bike, a 2000 Kawasaki ZR-7 for a $2,300 plus tax and reg and $1k in gear.

They’re good bikes, very reliable and more comfortable than the other super sports I tried out. No need for a 1000rr yet.

What I ride: This salvaged 1991 Suzuki GSXR 750.

What I ride: 2007 cbr600rr and 2003 track-only cbr600rr

I think you missed the OP’s point. He stated that if he test drove a car at dealership X, then dealership X gets a $50-$100 credit, i.e. he’s willing to pay $50-$100 more at dealership X than at any other dealership. He’s not saying dealerships should charge $50-$100 to test drive cars.

This is why the dealership model is turrible.

First, even more than the cars (most of which I can’t afford), I read NPOCP for writing like this:

1. Hertz manages to rent me cars for a full day for way less than $100. No reason a dealership can’t do the same.

So what you’re saying is that EVERYONE is getting fucked. Customers get fucked by salespeople, salespeople get fucked by the owner, dealers get fucked by the manufacturer, etc.
