solutions like this are great and all, and bless bill gates for investing time and money into companies like this (I don’t see anyone else stepping up), but what worries me is the average person will read about 4 words from articles like this and be like “they’re storing C02 into concrete now, I can continue to daily

I switched to a 5G capable phone a few months ago and not only is the speed better, but areas where I had a dead zone are nearly gone because of the wider reach from each tower. And because I’m on mint mobile Ryan Reynolds shows up randomly to thank me for being a customer.

If only there was some kind of history that could have warned us.. oh like this video from 7 years ago

Why does this sound like the plot to another “final destination” movie?

Cool.. so if it’s my right to decide to wear a mask, is it also my right to drive drunk all over texas? I mean most likely I won’t crash into another car and kill another innocent human being, but it’s my right to drive drunk *sarcasm*

why aren’t we deploying these on every mile of coast?

take it to the track idiot

I know the space elevator concept is sort of dead at this point unless we can figure out a material that’s light and strong enough, but the new “skyhook” concept seems very feasible with our current technology. Why isn’t one of these billionaires trying to design one of those? They would own space travel period

I love the concept of auto pilot, but releasing it if things “may go bad” is not a good idea.  You’re going to have 2 types of drivers, those that use this like cruise control (keeping an eye on the road 95% of the time), and then others that assume tesla wouldn’t release something unsafe and put all their faith in it

because a real chromecast wasn’t already cheap? I’m leery of walmart’s ONN brand. I bought a cheap mouse and headphones and they both broke within the first year.

Heating and cooling make up like 75% of the energy costs of any building. If you go geothermal (IE run tubes 10 feet under the ground), you can pull 50°F air year round with some energy efficient fans. Throw a bunch of solar panels on the roof and you have a very sustainable mansion.  Mandate that anything over 3,000

who said that oil belongs to them anyway?

I so want to do this someday, this video inspired me a few years back. A farmer in nebraska made his house use geothermal a long time ago, then realized “hey, I could do the same thing in a green house and grow oranges in a region that wasn’t meant to”. His video is really great because you don’t even have to go that

I saw this video when it posted, he has a great channel.  It’s amazing those even work below freezing (not well, but they do).  It’s why even in the upper northwest they don’t have a furnace.
