I know it’s set in modern-day because they tell me it’s set in modern day, but outside of a few ‘things that exist now but didn’t in earlier time periods’ this show sure feels like it’s set in the 70's-80s I think the aesthetics of the show play into this on purpose, as it is true that smaller towns in this country do

I think so too. I’m wondering if Dot already knows this. And the postcard she hid in the hole represents Linda’s body in. So the grave or evidence of her murder is how Linda will help in Dot’s “real life”.

IMO the reason Dot doesn’t confide in the authorities directly is because she clearly doesn’t trust them as a whole. How could she when her abuser is a sheriff who blatently abuses his power yet faces little to no consequences for it? A sheriff who was able to almost immediately locate her the moment she got booked in

I hate “it was all a dream” when it being a dream affects the plot. It doesn’t here. It was just a different way of revealing what happened to Nadine. Narratively, it’s little different than showing her driving, then harps and a wavy transition to show that she’s remembering the past. I for one wasn’t invested in the

Yeah, seeing as how ‘Fargo’ has already given us a UFO, the judgement of God, and a centuries old sin eater, an idyllic community of battered women using puppet justice isn’t even close to being too weird to be real.

When he came into the hospital room, it reminded me of Randall Flagg approaching Nadine Cross in “The Stand” (the 1994 series, aka The Good One).

Interesting catches. I’m more inclined to think she fell asleep and wrecked, putting her in the hospital, and everything including the diner was imagined. Presenting an episode as a dream is one thing; making your cliffhanger a dream would cause riots.

Lorraine obviously bristled when Tillman initially referred to Dot as his property.  Her response to him was just turning his logic around on him.  I think the scene with the bankers was intended to show that she isn’t going to play along with male entitlement bullshit, and the scene with Tillman was to give her some

i feel like that exchange about how libertarians are essentially babies is going to end up going viral

The concept of “Minnesota nice” is a recurring theme throughout Fargo going back to the original film and this season even opens up with a definition of the term. The thing about “Minnesota nice” is that a lot of theorists argue it is a façade that’s less about being genuinely friendly and more about maintaining the

I tend to agree that its probably the weakest episode so far but C seems to harsh. It’s definitely somewhere in the B range. The sit downs Lorraine has with multiple characters this week are just too good to have a grade that low.

Why wait to binge?  Cliffhangers are almost meaningless while binging. You definitely appreciate them more when you don’t have a choice but to wait....and I’ve found people tend to remember and appreciate shows much better when they’re aired over several weeks.  I think this is why Netflix ends up cancelling shows

To be unfair, all the vapers I know in real life are douches too.

I mean this is how you do suspense, keep your audience wanting more. As long as it’s resolved interestingly in the future, which I have confidence in, Noah Hawley doesn’t have to dump all episodes at once for us. Maybe waiting a week to discuss what we’ve seen online instead of gorging ourselves with 10 episodes in

He called her that - but I don’t think it is his mother. Just a lady in a house he moved in to. The way he says “I’m going out, mama” reminded me of Crispin Glover in Wild at Heart making sandwiches - “I’m making MY LUNCH!”

Plus he vapes. The modern trope of showing someone’s a douchebag without saying they’re a douchebag.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRD!

Two quick notes. I hate to be “that girl” but 1520s is not the Middle Ages. Usually its considered to have ended in 1453 with the end of the 100 Years War and the Fall of Constantinople. In Britain the death of Richard III in 1485 and the end of the War of the Roses is the end. Columbus in 1492 is the latest you can

Gator is a brilliant parody of the modern self-deluded “alpha male” pup. The “protect, not serve” thing is punctuated by him taking a drag off...a purple vape. LOL
