I have never seen the attraction of these prelude comics. I mean, the movies start where they do for a reason! There’s also the impression that no one really thinks they ‘count’. Was it the Avengers’ prelude that said where the Hulk villains ended up? It’d be pretty neat if that were acknowledged.
Every so often I hear someone talking about practical effects and they often end up saying ‘The brain always knows when something is CGI’ and I’m always like ‘if only you knew’.
It was definitely a subversion of expectations. I didn’t really know what Adam Driver looked like going in and the only thing I saw of Ren’s face was the Lego Minifigure - so what I was expecting was a beautiful hunk, like Loki. It was so different to what I was expecting and I was incredibly unsettled.
“In the Bytes”
X-Men Apocalypse has no new ideas (literally nothing that hasn’t been done better elsewhere). Batman V Superman has plenty of ideas that are at least radical to the genre, which makes it a lot more interesting, at least.
Ah man, it sounds like Rebels has gotten pretty crazy! I seriously doubt I’d get through the whole saga episode by episode, but I quite like the idea of going through some of the key episodes...
It’s quite frustrating reading a review of something that seems intriguing with no suggestion of how you can watch it.
I played the Demo (beta?) at a friends and it was all pretty cool stuff - you definitely feel part of the universe and it’s awesome when you see Luke/Vader coming towards you. Do they still do the thing that when you kill either of them they just kneel in the battlefield for ages? That’s what took me out of it - I…
There’s gonna be a point when the Superhero genre will be like Westerns today - made by filmmakers with something to say specifically about the genre. It’ll be after the ‘death’ of the popularity (which I don’t think will be this decade) so probably these writers and directors will be those brought up on these films…
I get that it was going to be a great experience but putting a show in only one city is always going to be elitist - not everyone can fly across the ocean. And that’s before we get into the ‘two parts’ debacle. I spent the summer working literally ten minutes down the road from the theatre and I still didn’t feel like…
This scene wouldn’t have saved the movie, but it does hint at a much more enjoyable (and better!) film than the one we saw.
This book is great (as is Scooby Apocalypse and the Flintstones) but the delays and fill ins could do some damage here. It’s not the sort of book the industry supports so the creators need to do everything on their part not to give anyone an excuse to cancel it!
I’ve not seen Superman Returns but joking or not that’s not a bad comparison.
Also - You know the Immaterial Girl trade is a different design to volumes 1 & 2? What was the thinking behind that?
Style wise, are the gods influenced by popstars in the same way they were when you and Jamie created them? Does Amaterasu know she looks like a younger Florence Welch?
Civil War is great and I wouldn’t change anything for that airport scene (every time I see that shot of Spidey hanging on to War Machine I can’t believe we got this film) but early on they also mentioned the ‘psychotic 50's Cap’as a plot point, which would have been pretty cool to see.
Are they spin-offs or in their own ‘universes’?
I disagree with the bit about the Force Awakens. Very few of the character journeys go anywhere and the majority of the promises the plot makes are unfulfilled (We start the movie not knowing where or why Luke has disappeared... We end the movie the same way). Just because they blew up a Death Star, doesn’t mean it’s…
First time I’ve been excited about a game being released since Animal Crossing: New Leaf! Any ETA of a release date? I don’t bring my PS4 to University with me, so it’d be great if it were around a holiday.
