Not a lawyer either (though I used to fetch & carry for them), but traditionally oral agreements are considered binding; the problem usually is proving that the agreement was made, and the details of the agreement.

Hardy, in interviews, has never seemed to have much of a filter. As he’s gotten older he seems to have learned to at least try to be more diplomatic; but he still seems to intimidate/piss off his interviewers more often than not.
