Torquey VQ37 with 330 hp seems like a good match for the Z32 chassis. I agree. Heck the VQ probably weighs a whole lot less than the iron block VG30 anyway. I know when the Maxima switched from the VG to the VQ, the engine was a source of nearly 200 lbs weight loss if I'm not mistaken.

That high specific output came at a price apparently. One that Honda was not willing or able to surmount without going with a completely different engine series.
