2 keys, one to unlock more horsepower? Where have I heard that before.

I find what you say interesting because it was a Democrat, Emanuel Celler (D-NY) who introduced H.R. 7152 which eventually became the Civil Rights act of 1964. Then it was Lyndon B. Johnson who signed it into law after J.F.K. had campaigned for it was was later assassinated.

Sorry off-topic I know, but apparently you've never seen the Taurus SHO intake manifold:

Escort Cosworth FTW!

I wholeheartedly agree. It seems to me that massive public investment has really hampered modern companies as common sense give way to short term profits that negatively affect long term vision. I remember reading not so long ago that Best Buy's founder wanted to regain control of the company and take it private so he

I agree, there should be some limits to how little power a car should have, but shouldn't effective transmission and final drive gearing help with that? My dad had a then new '91 Nissan Sentra with a 1.6L 4-cylinder making 110 hp. It was easily capable of nearly 30 mpg in city and easily reached 40 mpg on the highway

He has a house he inherited which for most people, not owning their house is their largest expense. Detroit property values are from what I can see, not that great so basically selling the house may be a non-option for him. At $10.55 an hour, owning his own home and not renting or is probably the best option he has. I

You must be a former/current maxima.org member. ;-)

I understand this is purely my opinion, but I happen to think the '05-'06 Altima SE-R was quite the looker.

Thanks for pointing that out. As an owner of a '98 4th generation Maximo, I'm always amazed at how the configured the passenger compartment within the confines of what I consider to be a fairly compact (not the EPA rating) body relative to today's large sedans. The striking thing for me is how cramped some of today's

Torquey VQ37 with 330 hp seems like a good match for the Z32 chassis. I agree. Heck the VQ probably weighs a whole lot less than the iron block VG30 anyway. I know when the Maxima switched from the VG to the VQ, the engine was a source of nearly 200 lbs weight loss if I'm not mistaken.

I hope not either, but you said:

I can agree with that, but it's all relative isn't it? I had a 2003 Sentra SE-R Spec-V with the QR25DE making 175 HP and 180 ft-lbs of torque. It was more than adequate in the Sentra. That same engine was also used as the base engine in the much larger and probably much heavier Altima of the same vintage and was

Touch! However, my reason for asking that question was to indicate that engine is no longer in production because it could not pass current emissions testing. That high specific output came at a price apparently. One that Honda was not willing or able to surmount without going with a completely different engine series.

The Corvette and Camaro are much larger vehicles than the SS?

Where is that engine now? Probably a statistic of ever tightening emissions regulations.

Where is that engine now? Probably a statistic killed by ever tightening emissions regulations.
