I guess the average life span is 3 movies.

Yep, I was just thinking the same - an article focusing on Amidala’s ridiculous regression to damsel in distress versus Leia’s progression away from it would have been a lot more interesting.

It’s worth remembering that back in the 70s, Lucas was a very good director. His problems started after ‘Star Wars’—it was such an unpleasant experience for him that he tried to take the actors out of the equation (by all accounts it was a very fractious set) and make sure no studio could ever influence his vision

Are you fucking kidding me with that Luthor performance? You’re playing LEX LUTHOR, Eisenberg, not the goddamn Joker.

I live in Hawaii, and it’s important to state clearly that the anti-TMT movement (a) does not represent all native Hawaiians; and (b) according to the best and most recent opinion polls, most state residents support the TMT project. However, many TMT supporters here are wary of speaking out publicly due to the

TEh ghost of young James Garner would be mighty good as well.

To be fair, RT explodes about as often as South Park’s Kenny dies.

For the “Supergirl losing her powers thing”, I think it’s a thing they just intro’d in the comics where overuse of laser vision or it’s evolved “supernova” form (which basically turns Superman into a bomb) uses up the stored energy within the Kryptonian cells. Depending on depletion, it can take one to three days to

Honestly, when I first saw the pilot for The Man in the High Castle I was sold on it based on the strength of the opening credits alone. Luckily, the rest turned out to be just as good.

Weta was involved only in a pre-production version of the show when New Zealand was briefly considered as a shooting location. Weta has nothing to do with the version that you see now, which was filmed and had VFX produced entirely in Canada by Canadian VFX Companies including Rocket Science VFX, Spin, Switch,

I vaguely remember that Tommy Lee Jones refused to work with her again. I also remember that she had a reputation for being difficult. This was almost 20 years ago, though. How much it contributed to the end of her career, I do not know. It does however explain why the role was scrapped from the sequel.

I recommend the Space Rocket History Podcast for endless detail and complete nerding out on the entire space program.

She wasn’t a horrible person. She was a compassionate and passionate person who was socially-awkward. Was she controlling, domineering, and nosy? Yes.

That’s not the belt- the ship is in the rings of Saturn gathering ice.

I haven’t seen it and might not for a while (we just had our first baby three days ago and OH MY GOD THIS IS HARD), but my wife and I both love the books.

True story, I was channel surfing way back in the day (when it was still a thing you did) and I came across a shot of Vasquez rocks. I was like “oh cool, Trek is on” and I settled in waiting for the appropriate shot of Kirk or the Gorn.

Right now, my wife is watching Jessica Jones. She’s not the world’s biggest comic book fan, but this one has her interest, in no small part because it is (a) so centered on women and (b) deals with a lot of issues not typically addressed such as the psychological impact of rape and assault.

I mean dear god, this is what it’s like when a dark story doesn’t treat you like an idiot. *cough* Man of Steel sucks *cough*

Although a lot of that might have to have done with the fact that it was written by Akiva Goldsman, one of the worst screenwriters in the business, then hot (as in a garbage fire) off Batman & Robin. (I can never forgive him for adapting Helprin’s great Winter’s Tale as a shitty Lifetime movie.)
