Gotta keep runtimes short to maximize rewatchability and turnover in the megaplexes!
A Dr. Who fan loved this shapshod abomination of a fan film masquerading as a Star Wars film, as-is?
^^^ This is the true patrician opinion.
And let’s not forget that the original Star Wars more or less killed his marriage with his film-editor wife, leaving him in a place where he could never really do the kinds of small art movies that he loved doing with her before SW ruined it all.
It DID look fascinating from orbit.
Two wheel drive hybrid motorcycles, you say?
You heard it here first, Snoke is Luke.
If Disney were to do X-XII, I’d kind of respect the horrible troll move if they did the Vong arc.
Finn gets PTSD from watching his fellow stormtrooper get killed by Poe. 10 minutes later, he’s bromancing it up with Poe like nothing happened. An hour later, he’s killing his formerly fellow stormtroopers with no remorse whatsoever.
A cinematic universe to rival Marvel’s, you say? And that’s supposed to be a good thing?
>Coherent story
JJ got into the blockbusters business when he helped write Armageddon for Bruckheimer/Bay, and I’d argue that since then, his Sarah Lawrence-educated ass has NEVER been able to deliver sci fi that strays too far from his BayHeimerian beginnings and I’m convinced that he is literally unable to produce a…
Because JJ “remember that he also wrote Armageddon” Abrams is a shitty hack of a writer, and poor Alan Dean probably had little creative leeway.
^^^ This guy knows what’s up
If it was truly a great movie, you TFA boosters wouldn’t get so aggressively defensive the moment someone says that it’s not nearly as great as it’s puffed up to be.
And people said the prequels had needlessly cartoonish character designs...
I would kill to get my hands on Lucas’s original screenplays for the sequels.
Watching JJ plunder the EU with no credit given, only to produce a derivative universe that lives up horribly to some of the cooler precedents set by it’s (totally unattributed) source material, should go down as one of the biggest sci-fi travesties in recent years.
