Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory was pretty neat to visit but I don’t think they do public tours. I was there back in the olden days on a visit that somehow my high school physics teacher arranged.

If you’re even remotely a science dork and in the area, the SLAC public tour is totally worth doing. I was thoroughly impressed and loved it enough to go back a second time. It’s been about a decade, time to go back and see the new additions.
