No it did not. The 1987 fuel economy mpg are not the same as the current 2011 5 cycle epa test which is much stricter. Not to mention 1987 was before ethanol was added.

Yes they can, they have done all of the above before.

Tesla posted 16M profit in Q1 while everyone else posted in the red! Their profits were larger in 2019 Q2 and Q3. The lower profit in Q1 is due to the factory shutdowns.

CA has over a dozen other states following them. So that means over half the country(population wise).

Yes, it pretty much goes against the concept of human progress.

Oil companies are richer than both the people and the  car companies combined.

Can you please put 54 mpg CAFE! And remind people not to confuse CAFE with sticker.

Actually, Trump doesn’t care what happens. He just needed to show his voters he is shoving it to California. If it gets shut down in court, he can claim liberal activist judges. It’s all an election ploy.

Sorry, what in the world are you talking about? All I could make out is that you are used to being bullied, but how is any of that relevant?

Tesla has been profitable for 3 quarters already (2 of them without regulatory credit sales, last one needed the credits but that was due to panademic). They have no cashflow issues, their cashflow is growing.

Except that would be short sighted. Tesla’s goal isn’t to lead niche sales, they want to be a big player in a larger field. And to do that, you have to make cars more affordable. You know, the whole mission of Tesla...

Musk has said prior to factory being shut down that he plans to use that time to upgrade the older lines. Price cuts after upgrades is nothing surprising.

That isn’t screwing on price, it clearly states potential savings and the details right under it. If you click on Purchase Price or learn more it will give you the upfront price.

Yes, statistically speaking you are more likely to die on your trip to the airport than the flight itself. See, makes you feel better right?

Uhm, the gigafactory was before at 35 gwh (with panasonic planning expansion to 54gwh). So to reach 1twh, they would be about 28.57X more production, not 1000X more like you claim.

Except in the case of Musk, he actually does go down to his factories. Often times even sleeps there.

How is it surprising? Their china factory was down for an entire month. Fermont, gigafactory and NY factory was also down for half a month. People still need to be paid, supplies still need to be paid for.

Tesla has been profitable without the credits for quite a few quarters. Now they may have not been profitable in Q1 without them, but lets stop pretending that they would be in a “pickle” without them.

Musk can’t sell his stock, the moment he does the stock would tank. Not to mention since the company constantly adds shares for one reason or another, he could lose control of the company if he doesn’t keep a certain %. The whole packages thing is for Musk to retain control, not to make money. (This is why he had to

Wow, actually comparing driving cycles! Is this a miracle? Usually even car outlets just take the EPA test and compare it to the NEDC and call it a day. Then there is the myth of european cars losing range once they hit US market due to some sort of conspiracy.
