At some point you need to accept that consistent feedback to a behavior means the feedback is probably valid.

It’s less of people being “so sensitive” and more of people being unwilling to put up with jokes that punch down, or are generally insulting or offensive.

I may not have made my point as clear as it could have been, but you knew I meant if we heard word from a victim via any means; therefore, you simply resorted to being a reactionary, petty, querulous, childish, belligerent, quarrelsome, bed-wetting, feckless, discordant, petulant, peevish, stuffy, ineffectual,

I mean...that would certainly fit the definition of an excuse if he tried to use it.

she engaged in a super secret plan to undermine celebrity credibility by getting them to participate in maudlin ego-trips under the cover of public concern, dastardly!!!

let’s not forget the loyal best friend back home—in this case, Jenny (a winsome Sophia Nomvete)—whom you just know will turn up later

Yeah, sorry if I spoiled it, but pretty much if you didn’t see ToBF, you were denied the resolution to Grogu’s story told in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.

Consider also that some think the title character has been Grogu all along. If true, that means his turn into the title character didn’t happen on the show.

Look, I’m just gonna say what we’re all thinking: I’d bet good money that Giamatti fucks long and fucks hard.

This is a lot of words for “I don’t understand visual storytelling” and “I am terrified to disagree with critical consensus.”

this is the first time i’ve ever heard of a ‘the mcu is too fun’ critique.

and some people genuinely love eating shit.

my dear boy everyone is aiming for good first. it goes without saying.

How is this dude fine now?

What was supposed to be clever about Midsommer? It was just a rollercoaster ride of incongruous imagery and tone with a pretty straightforward plot. It had remarkably wide appeal because it wasn’t that clever and didn’t need to be.

yeah it was incredibly straightforward. it’s okay to just not like something.

I LOVE Hereditary. Yeah, the particular shock is pretty impactful but for me the turn from one particular kind of horror movie to another kind of horror movie really cements it. I know not everyone is into that switch but for my money it turned it from a horror movie I was really enjoying into one I saw in the theater

I’m not sure Midsommar was really trying to be clever. It trojan horsed a toxic relationship/break-up story into a horror film rather successfully. Outside of that I don’t think it made any pretences about being clever.

I’m onboard.
