There are benefits and downsides for both parties.

I prefer one-time licenses on stuff I know I’m going to use forever, because I pay less overall. But I like subscription-model if I’m just going to try it out.

I’d be worried about not getting both prongs in at the same moment. Wrong angle could cause a delay before the circuit was complete, and it turns out electricity is pretty speedy.
