If they literally did Chrono Trigger Pixel Remaster (like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters from a few years ago), it would do everything you mentioned. I think that’s probably the best overall option, trying to change too much could be disastrous.
Like many, I loved this game and FF7 as a kid. I hate what was done with FF7 - splitting the game into three parts and changing the game mechanics. Not to mention taking so long to release the game - it will take over a decade for the game to come out in its entirety from initial announcement.
The game’s been out forever, and I think the main reasons people haven’t played it at this point are:

I liked most of the cast of the live action show, even if the show overall was not particularly impressive.
I enjoyed her in limited amounts on The Good Wife, but I can’t imagine watching her as a lead character week after week. I think I will pass.
