Yeah, I think it is fair to let a person writing a comment to rely on the dictionary definition of something. When I used the word, that's what I meant. I don't think that is at all crazy. When I said "I don't particularly respect her" I meant that I don't admire her. And what is wrong with that? I don't know why you

Even if she is telling the truth, which I am admittedly wholly unqualified to judge, it still doesn't mean I admire her. Nor do I have to admire her. I'm kind of shocked that this is A Thing. Am I really required to admire all celebrities just because?

I agree. But that doesn't make her worthy of my admiration. I don't really know how this is a question. Maybe she made some good business decisions. But I don't admire her. ya know?

The dictionary definition LITERALLY is admiration. "a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements."

But it isn't, really. I mean the literal definition of the word "respect," as I intended to use it, is: "a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements." I can understand that people have different feelings about what a word should mean in context, but as

It is really odd what an offhand comment has devolved into. It's a basic dictionary definition: respect: a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

Meh. I see where you are coming from. At the same time, I'm married to a sweet, super feminist husband and the first thing he said to me after our wedding was "your boobs look amazing." It happens.

I think she's probably going to be super upset about it, frankly. But upside: I was never one of those assholes that made fun of her during her pregnancy. I'm not a monster. ;)

I don't care if she makes a sex tape (who hasn't?). I don't even care if she releases it. But I don't have to respect her branding capabilities when it's all rooted in this one stupid thing. Well that combined with daddy's money from defending rich scum bags.

She became famous for having sex on video and then "releasing" it and pretending it was an accident. Yeah, not really worth my respect. Really?

I can find a million reasons to hate on Kimye, but the fact that he genuinely seems to love and respect her (even when I personally find her undeserving of the "respect" portion in particular)... that is not something I can hate on. I'm just a sap for a good love story I guess.

I saw this on twitter and thought it was in reference to an article on Salon...

Ugh I could handle all the rape in season two. I had to finally stop watching. :-/

I can't imagine it's been an especially difficult task for him; I'd run from this penis immediately and I imagine I'm not the only one. ;-)

Well this story is several months old so it's possible you just found your way to an old post and read it again. :)

Congrats!!!

Hey are you the one that wrote the series on behind the scenes at the zoo on groupthink for a little while? Because I want that series to come back. It was my favorite.

I don't know that there is any way to prove one way or the other without extensive research, but I don't think it is accurate to say that the "vast majority" of famous actors and actresses are discovered by auditions and scouts. I think Hollywood is pretty well-known for being fairly inbred, so to speak.

That's kind of my point. I don't know why we say that this person deserves their "fame" because of an "achievement" whereas another doesn't because they didn't "achieve" anything. It is a silly line to draw in my mind, especially when discussing the topic of fame.

I didn't know that did that in baseball, but I love that idea! I would definitely attend a basketball game that day. My husband is a huge NBA fan, so it would be easy to do without him knowing why. Muahahahaha.
