So you’re saying the universal truth is that there is no universal truth?

It’s not hard to envision this statement coming out of a Trump supporter’s mouth rationalizing why they voted for him despite the harassment accusations.
“the RESULT of all of these people covering their own asses”
I don’t think I did that. There is a difference between saying “Why didn’t they speak up? They must be lying” and “What can we do to help people to speak up?”
She’s full of shit. She knew. They all knew.
Sorry to disappoint you. I do realize I ventured dangerously into victim blaming territory and I feel bad about it. The point stands though. How do we as a society need to change so that women feel like they can come forward? I think it’s worth talking about.
I was just thinking about that. Many of the woman who have come forward waited until they were older and won’t have to pay a steep price career wise. (Because Hollywood only values women of a certain age, of course). With little to lose why not try to take the fucker down? Now that they’re older and they’re household…
Here’s a very uncomfortable truth we all need to face: victims get to handle this stuff however they wish but the RESULT of all of these people covering their own asses and keeping their mouths shut enabled this man do this for DECADES. Is there a woman in Hollywood who WASN’T harassed by this man? And don’t forget…
Since some poor idiot took you out of the greys I’ll now seize the opportunity to tell you you’re a fucking moron. Yes indeed! My entire opinion on this is based on that ONE dude. EYEROLL. Fuck off.
Yes. This is my takeaway from this whole week as well. No wonder feminism has stalled. “Progressive” men cannot be trusted.
Cosby, Ailes, O’Reilly, the Pussy Grabber in Chief, Weinstein... Can “liberal” men wake up now? How many of these high powered men need to get caught after decades of abusing women for them to realize we are actually not living in a feminist utopia and things REALLY ARE THAT BAD.
You’re a whack job. Thanks for reminding me why I don’t comment on this site anymore.
I think you’re being purposefully obtuse because you want to give someone a hard time. That’s ok.
I’m suggesting the (evidently offensive) idea that we step up to help others when our government won’t.
They don’t believe these programs are the responsibility of the federal government. So for now, if you want people to get help you might need to be the one to help them. If you choose not to that’s your choice.
This means the citizenry needs to step up and give money to these causes. Ostensibly spending cuts should result in tax cuts. Distribute yours to groups and causes that are meaningful to you. Give till it hurts- just like paying taxes fucking hurts.
This is definitely *a thing* these days. I’ve heard of multiple women being asked what they wanted their grand-kids to call them. Grandma was never an option for them either.
Sorry, replied to the wrong person.
Agree entirely. The debate isn’t whether or not a fetus is alive. The debate is whether or not a fetus is a person, and, if it is: A. should it’s rights supersede the rights of the woman it is growing inside of and B. who determines what is best for it- the government or the woman it is growing inside of?
It’s a law designed to turn us into incubators.
