Most if not all classes now have some kind of access to ebooks through the publisher for a fraction of the cost of the actual book. The downside is not being able to sell back a book. But there has always usually been an option to buy used as well.

As a continuing education college student i have never spent near $500 on a single textbook. My most expensive book is for Management 531 @ $180 in physical form or ebook it for $93
