Speaking of altering reality, if you’ve never seen the video where Bobby McFerrin manipulates an entire audience to go up the pentatonic scale, it’s great:
I almost didn’t read this article because I wanted to jump here to proclaim my love for the movie, which I have had to defend time and time again. It’s everything I would’ve wanted from a Wolverine movie as a 13-year-old fan. It does have style to spare, in a Warhammer 40K tabletop kinda way, and in a Warhammer…
Heh, D&D 3rd as simulationist? I see you don’t know any GURPS fans!
Except that half the classes have at least one subclass (if not part of the base class) that have a “your ranged and melee attacks count as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistance” bonus. The other half? Spellcasters. Some of which ALSO get that. Many of whom can share that benefit with their allies. …
Playing Pillars of Eternity 2 and while I’m having a good time, I have two problems, one which is good, one which is bad.
First the good: there’s WAY too much shit to do. All the companions and little side stories and factions are actually interesting enough to make me want to do them (as opposed to the Dozens and the…
Rules for getting into and out of armor when you went to bed were cool but next to no one used them so that’s why they went away. But I liked them because night time should be scary if you are in a scary monster house
Yeah but a Leader can be a Cleric or a Bard or a Warlord or a Shaman, and they all do it in slightly different ways (a Cleric’s a better pure healer, a Warlord can give out free attacks, etc.). And in general the tightness and transparency of the mechanics lends itself much more to reskinning. Hell this was the first…
Okay, I’ve missed the last few WAYPTWs, so this is going to be a long post about my gaming life over the past few weeks.
I’m glad other people are getting nostalgic for the Playstation era because I have many fond memories of it and still like low-poly graphics. Combine that with how experimental that era could get, I really wish more people would appreciate it.
I took a year or so break from gaming, so now I’m sopping up some leftover games I meant to get to a while ago as well as playing through random XBox Live Gold games. As a birthday gift for myself for getting a new job and finally having some disposable income, I’m planning on buying a PS4 and for the first time since…
Man, I would love to do a one-shot in 2nd edition someday, just to have that experience. It just sounds so freaking difficult.
Hello, all! I’ve officially been in Portland, Oregon for 1 week and loving it.
Eh, any RPG is as good a storytelling system as you make it. I think there’s just as much imagination in “Eh, can’t pull that move off again, not without some rest” as there is in figuring out which spell to use- you figure out what the abstraction means.
I’m going to try to make some progress in Yakuza 6 this weekend. I feel like Onomichi hasn’t wormed its way into my consciousness the same way Kamurocho has, and I think I just need more time with it.
I got God of War last weekend and it’s awesome, I don’t think I’m super far in it but it’s living up to the hype. I’ve also been playing Persona 4 Golden again, I really think one of the big reasons it’s my favorite game (it’s been a tossup lately between it and P5 for the #1 spot) is the sound design. I love just…
This weekend I’m mostly going to be playing Final Fantasy XIV, which I’ve fallen back into hardcore since getting a PS4 Pro and putting my Bloodborne run on hiatus ‘til my buddy gets a PS4 (gotta love co-op); I just hit level 30 as an archer and 15 as a pugilist, so now I’m a bard. Woohoo!
Hello all! This weekend is going to be busy, but should I be able to squeeze in some gaming, I will be playing my usual mixture of games depending on who is online (Sea of Thieves, SW:BF2, or Stardew Valley), But there are a few other games that I’m itching to play more of.
City of Brass looks right up my alley but I’ve been pretty good about not buying games when my backlog is the size of Mt Rainer. And I’m not putting a dent in it anytime soon because I barely have any time to play lately and I’m having too much fun playing God of War.
I’ve been on a break from Dragon Age:Inquisition for the last few weeks. Even now, with over 100 hours played, there’s an intimidating amount of stuff I’ve yet to touch. Whole regions I’ve never been to. Regions I have been to still containing large black areas of undiscovered land.
I always love to see the weird experimental horror games you put on here, Clayton! I don’t always find the time to play them, but they’re on a mental checklist.
