Yeah, I don’t think anyone one wanted Arya to kill the Night King. It didn’t make sense, didn’t feel earned. It felt like D&D just watched Return of the King and thought GoT needed an “Eowyn Meets the Witch King” scene, only without the buildup. Cersei on the other hand... she needed to die at the hands of either Arya…
Her killing Cersei was FAR more important then killing the Night King. Jon should have killed the Night King and Arya, Cersei. Why they decided otherwise I will never know. The Night King was Jon’s story, and Arya was about avenging her father.
I never wanted her to kill NK. That was D&D bs “subverting expectations”. Jon didn’t even get to fight the monster he’s been after for years. I wanted to see at least a final sword fight.. Hell, NK doesn’t even hear Arya til last second..? Ugh.
People didn’t want Arya to solve the invading undead armies problem at all, there was an entire cast developed around the plot of dealing with the undead that Arya was never involved in until they needed a deus ex machina to resolve that plot thread.
Actually I wanted her to kill Dany. In the guise of the unsullied of coarse. That would have fit better, after watching her run around through the dragon destruction seeing innocents die for a half hour.
Most of the Northeastern US where homes were mostly built before AC was a thing.

Those are not the aspects of the show that has appealed to me for years. I don’t like the fantasy genre, really. This show seemed to subvert that so well for 5 seasons. I’m interested in the characters, their choices, and the stakes of the battles. Not the visuals. And, on that note? The showrunners are failing at…
When Euron and Jaime started fighting, I was like, ugh, this is the fight scene NO ONE wanted.
Dany is the only character who conquered cities, forced her vision of a culture upon them, and then abandoned them instead of staying to rule.
I had a thousand ways of saying that but I’ll settle for your pithy description of the episode. This should be engraved as the ultimate and most concise analysis of what GoT was in TV history, at the end.
Dany has always been an imperialist. It’s incidental that her ideals dovetail with our progressive ones.
What are the odds that Jaime would survive the loot train battle with his golden arm and armor in the deep river? Or the odds that all the main stars with incomplete arcs would survive ‘the Long Night’ which was... really, the length of a typical night? Euron was a bigger issue - he somehow survived (what are the…
They patched the show after last episode and nerfed the ballistas.
Credit where it’s due: Emilia Clarke has usually not been much more than a decent actress (though I’ve often defended her from critics who assert she’s bad, which I don’t think she has been), but she has been absolutely wonderful this season, even as the writing for her character has turned into a trainwreck.
Awful episode in terms of narration, fantastic in terms of visuals.
What’s important to note here, is that Ghost is very safe in the North, the REAL North, mind you.
The scorpions were only as accurate and powerful as the plot needed them to be.
