I liked all three of them a lot. But I think my standards are maybe not terribly high, as I haven’t read an awful lot of science fiction. I did wonder sometimes if the author was trolling us by having someone make or drink or discuss tea on literally every page.
I’m not a sci-fi expert, and I’m mainly interested in going back and reading the classics, but I recently read Ursula Le Guin’s Left Hand of Darkness, Ann Leckie’s Ancillary trilogy, and Asimov’s Foundation trilogy. I loved them all, and would recommend any of them.
So I’ve tried a few times to read ‘Consider Phlebas.’ I can’t get past the first fe pages. Can you tell me something that will help me get through them so I can experience what everyone evidently has?

Did you also like Foucault’s Pendulum? That and the Name of the Rose are two of my favourite books, but the rest of his novels were awful (in my opinion).
