This is Kathryn Minshew (the aforementioned 28-year-old) chiming in. There's an interesting debate going on about whether I or anyone else my age could be qualified to give advice to others. There's also a separate point to make which is that I don't actually "give" most of the advice available on The Muse - in fact, Read more

What an incredibly patronizing attitude. "She's your buddy, got it". Why? because she had a different opinion? Or because she doesn't want to completely disregard this woman's life experiences due to some arbitrary criteria? Ridiculous

The thing about advice is that you don't have to take it. Why is this so hard to understand? Since we've been caught up in the semantics of defining "experience" and "seem" let's define advice. Read more

I'm not sure if anyone here has noticed that the question was about career advice;which we aren't even getting here. The article's title is ...."How I work". It isn't "How I made it to the top", or "How to become the CEO of a cool company". This particular article is about how Kathryn works, and the things that she Read more

No, that's a misdiagnosis. I'm sorry if I come across as contemptuous of writers, because I moved to New York to be close to them.

I'm guessing this article focuses on America (didn't check the link for the national do not call list), but in South Africa, I simply state I'm not interested once they've said enough that I can determine they're a telemarketing agent, or if they try to first 'set me up' before starting their sales rap, I simply ask Read more

Hey Donna, thanks for joining today! There was a debate here at LH a few weeks ago about whether you should put your address on your resume or not. Do you think there's a benefit to having/not having it? (Especially for out-of-towners applying to jobs?)

Hi Donna,
Do you think it's worth it to maintain some kind of online resume/portfolio? Or do you think hiring managers never really bother looking at that stuff?

Hi Doctor Perry, I fell in the bath 3 months ago, directly on my coccyx. It's still very painful when I stand from sitting and bend to either side. How long do you estimate for it to heal, if ever? Many thanks.
