I’ve used POR15 plenty of times. I like it a lot, and have used it top-coated as well as by itself. Surface prep is very important or it starts peeling off in large chunks. It’s fundamentally urethane-based. It definitely likes to be applied in multiple thinner coats.

I would take this alternate history

If I had to guess, it might be a Delica Star Wagon. They’re the #vanlyfe rugged outdoorsman hipster ride du jour.

I haven’t sunk to the level of twatting yet, but I do ‘gram - @fakecharlesguan for much van content

I miss the ol’ company, but I’m glad to be out of Boston. Back down south now, no more salt and shitty slogging through winter weather.

That’s the one that everyone always memeposts whenever old vans are brought up. It’s like the Bat Soup of crash test videos.

I only proselytize on one subject, which is silly vans.

They tended to catch fire on their own anyway!

Interesting trivia - VW was the first manufacturer of forward control vehicles to put a triangular Y-shaped frame piece on each side, with a full width bumper beam, letting more of the body structure take a hit because it spreads the impact out. When the small-overlap crash test came out a few years ago, you began to

Oh yes. In every kei van or cab-over van thread, there is always the “Hyuk hyuk your face is the crumple zone” peanut gallery comments. This is certainly not false, but most folks approach it from the safety (hehe) of modern 2010s crash protection regulations, forgetting that practically everything of this era were

Yes! Finally a chance to flex. I have (against most odds) been operating a USDM Delica/Mitsu Wagon for about 6 and some years now. I contend that cab-over vans were never done justice in the U.S. and is the best shape for urban usage - go figure since they evolved in the context of dense Asian cities. Highways

What on earth is that. It looks like it has horrible visibility.

The funny thing about this is I’ve referred to the ‘stang as a “Ford Fusion 2-door” before since the front ends all became one in my mind.

As chaotic as Massholery can be, my experience has been that people generally know the roads are horrible and outdated and everyone is trying to just get where they’re going. Left lane camping is far less common than down south. However, people are less “nice” for sure, and you have to know to play some hardball and

Iiii....it has fake engine sound.

I’m one of those jackalopes who got into the habit of left-foot braking in spite of being told by my driving instructors it was “bad”. Growing up on curving Georgia backroads next to the Appalachain foothills will do that to you.

Ooooh, dynamat the floor. That’s a great idea. I should do that.

I don’t envy the engine at all. While it taught me the value of “V8 buttery goodness”, I’m a JDM fart cannon fuccboi at heart* and just wish that many liters had more to offer. The TBI retrofit did a lot for it, though. The smog-era carburetor and emissions devices (which were all stripped for the EFI) was just....

Oooh ooh oooh pick me pick me. I have the perfect photo op from this past weekend’s Regular Car Reviews meetup.

I somehow want this in my 1986 E350. It has the 7.5L formerly carbureted, now aftermarket throttle body injected, and there is something to be said about having infinite torque. Already I would put 5000 pound trailers in the “barely notice, probably a bit more goose up a hill” territory, and I can only imagine what 30
