Well, if it worked in 1621...
Wait, so you’re saying Fancy Kristen is not “the people”?!
I never realised that an ‘80s 2CV6 Club came with an actual hatchback. The wanton decadence!
I love how the text invites readers to check the interior dimensions of the Prinz II, confident that they will find it “generous in all three dimensions for four passengers of somewhat normal size”
A friend of my dad’s decided to keep a multi volume Christian Encyclopedia in the frunk of his beetle after a house move because it improved the handling. Not sure whether that’d work as well in the door pockets, though.
Some time travel going there: an illustration from the late 1950s to mid 1960s, featuring folk in late 19th century dresses and uniform, talking to a guy driving a 1930s roadster.
I see what you mean, but there is a peculiar inconsistency.
The pedal assistance is also how electrically assisted bicycles are distinguished from electric mopeds or motorbikes in Europe.
And model names: their trucks were sold under the Blitz (‘Flash’) name between 1930 and 1975
Those Mexican hipsters were way ahead of the Mopar crowd in on point Air Dam Shipping Covers.
...as others have pointed out, it would probably never work.
That’d be an interesting experiment, but I fear it might lose the honesty and simplicity that make the ICE MX5 so attractive. In those, there aren’t any modes or simulations, just a machine that, as far as possible, does what you tell it to there and then.
Fair points, but if you take effectively the same concept from 1963 to today, that’s pretty much what will happen. Relative to the rest of cardom, a 992 is still a 911: it’s still relatively compact, still a 2+2(ish), still rear engined, still relatively light, still powerful, still a daily driver, still on the edge…
Well, in a way, that’s kind of the measure where we are with EVs: apart from the flawed and long dead Tesla Roadster, the Taycan is the nearest thing to a BEV sports car. Sportier than a Panamera, but not in the same league as a 911 or a 718 at this stage.
No, quite, it wouldn’t. I was thinking of the Taycan.
It ought to be possible to make a fun EV sports car, but it’ll never be like an MX5. Light weight, revvy engine, and a snickety manual gearbox are all intrinsic parts of the MX5 concept, and necessarily absent from any EV.
The Garage Shop Manual in the very old skool Clark’s Garage is every Porsche 944 / 924S owner’s bible.

Some of the Porsche Design / IWC watches are nice.
