That reminds me... has anyone checked the rockers for rust yet?

No, you. Then open your own shop and make a profit fixing cars.

I’m not doing the leg work for you :P

T’would be a shame.

I said it was a ‘$300 car’ because that is what they paid. But it is a $2300 car at proper value, and condition.

They may not care, true, but it’d be a shame to disrespect the car so. Unlikely as it may seem, just because it ‘runs and drives’ doesn’t mean the PO’s kept up on maintenance. It could be a timing belt, brake job, or fluid change away from destroying something vital.

So is your unneeded comment. I’m done defending myself. You don’t have to agree.

Still, not denying that he got a good deal. But people, buyer included, hopefully are prepared to spend a bit of money to make it roadworthy/legal/safe depending on their local laws and personal regards for life and the lives of others on the road :)

I’m just trying to be realistic. And yes, there ARE people out there that would fawn over a low mile factory correct unmodified example.

I used to work for a Mazda dealer. In parts. FYI.

Parts and labor are assuming the owner doesn’t have a garage full of tools and is paying shop mark-up on parts, maybe even sourcing OEM.

Okay, so maybe not a collector piece.... yet. but I’d still want to make sure the mechanical bits are cared for.

No, he said if it was worth $2300 as-is, broken. THEN he’s still have to spend the $2000 to fix ‘er up nice.

But you admit, some people WOULD. Therein lies the point of my comment.

It was a number I threw out there, not knowing the EXACT condition.

It was a fair guesstimate. But at $2300 its a helluva lot more attainable than $300

Window looks like there’s a hole at the top.

A classic, that hasn’t been ruined and still has low miles.

Says the guy with the green pixeled avatar. Not everyone wants to hassle with replacing bumpers, windows, brakes, timing belts, etc.

Provided a shop is not doing the work, and nothing behind the bumper is damaged.
