@ffolliet: That generator is probably a little small (6 LEDs don't consume a lot of power). Probably it makes more sense to look at generators designed to power incandescent lights, as those lights use more power and will have heftier generators.

@tylerf: After that sternly worded post about Auto-Bans last week, flames should be the least of your worries.

@ToastyUterus: Really? you spent the money for 16 gigs of ram and didn't a 64-bit operating system (xp pro x64, vista64...)? Wouldn't it have been more fun to just light the money on fire?

@Kyoya: Yes; if the material goods are money/drugs, the word is hooker. If they're diamonds, the word is married.

@mfusion: Well, unless you're just enamored with the whole timer aspect, you could just make a wired device to push the button on command and run wire up with the kite string (or run wire up as the kite string)

@MrJR: Or, y'know, don't troll by making judgmental statements about people you've never met...?

@fjpoblam: Think about what you're saying; if the real number aren't higher, it means that the internal testers and QA people (whose discoveries aren't reported) have never found a security vulnerability. That seems like a rather ridiculous claim to make.

@Cormophyte: Really, you would pay money for that? I mean, yeah, it's a helpful thing to have, but it doesn't seem like something that would take more than an afternoon's worth of coding, so it seems hard to justify giving someone else money for it.

@KeyboardPillow_GitEmSteveDave: Doesn't the site explicitly mention that seeing no images (rather than just missing top ones) means that there is some sort of image load/adblock related issue?

@evangelistc01: I know exactly what you mean. Sure, I can get download speeds that are several times faster than any server could give me, and sure I can get material that way that I wouldn't otherwise have, and sure, 20 hours a day I can get great speed on nearly all popular files, but man, if I can't get it

@CassidyMaddox: Might it have been easier (and cheaper) to buy a really tall chair for sitting at a standing height desk? You could even build a foot rest into the desk. That way you could sit or stand without spending $700 (although as someone else has pointed out, it's not nearly as cool as an adjustable height

@sisya: Skype has versions out for most of the popular versions of linux. It's not FOSS, but it pretty much works right out of the box. As for System Restore, have you ever successfully used that in Windows? I never had much luck with it if something went wrong.

@dmtofree: Yeah, in addition to being free, using this to trigger your own batch of emails also removes the need for trusting you super important private information (banking, passwords, last words to loved ones) to the people running the service. If anyone got their hands on the Death Switch server, I think there

I wonder if taking notes would have a similar effect. Even if you don't read the notes later, it could work. And it looks a lot better than doodles if your boss/instructor sees it. =)

@RbblRbblChzbrgr_GitEmSteveDave: This story is definitely evidence in favor of securely encrypting your entire hard drive using Truecrypt or similar. That way, if you're in this situation (a non-functioning but still returnable drive) your data will be secure. I realize it doesn't help this time, but it's good to

@tamoriel: Well, yeah, but as soon as any media company (i.e. netflix, time-warner) starts using a proprietary protocol or filetype for streaming media, Cox has set themselves up do exactly that.
