And companies just keep doing it. Its starting to piss me off too. And that’s not easy to do.
Subreddits going dark for three days sends the message that whatever Reddit does, they’ll always come back.
glad to see the reddit v twitter rivalry is healthy even when it comes to pissing off all the users
Turns out the cost to host a scalable website go way, *way* down when your website effectively shuts down. Who knew?!
“Nobody is forcing these studios to accept buyouts.”
I think one of the things that this company and even Amazon are missing with LOTR and it’s various spin-offs are that it’s a lightning in a bottle kind of thing. Tolkien’s original books are beloved for a reason. But adaptations like the late 20th century animated version (hahaha!) are fairly solid evidence that…
I really don’t think Lord of the Rings is suited to games in general. Every adaptation has had to stray fairly significantly from the source to fit the game.
Lots of luck exploiting Lord of the Rings. I feel like that’s a franchise that’s been seeing diminishing returns for years now. The Hobbit movies were middling, the games haven’t been setting the world on fire, and it feels like the Amazon TV series was completely upstaged by House of the Dragon.
we need to be exploiting Lord of the Rings in a very significant fashion
Wait, I thought industry consolidation was a good thing though?!?!
Super super cool how they acquired a bunch of (seemingly) stable and successful developers and now are gonna lay off a bunch of people and shut down those same studios because they got greedy and bought more than they could afford.
“The fires of Isengard will spread, and the forests of Tuckborough and Buckland will burn. And all that was once great and good in this world will be gone. There won’t be a Shire, Pippin.”
So what I am getting is that they made a bunch of business plans around this mystery $2B deal and put those plans in motion (including the spending) before that deal was final. The deal fell apart and now they are screwed and having to do massive restructuring to avoid bankruptcy. Is that about the sum of it??
Kay comes off as a Han Solo type, but female. Always stealing, gambling and getting into tight situations. Which I don’t mind. It’s a cool idea.
Yeah I was pretty surprised by the lack of space wizards so far, but I would not be surprised if one shows up later in the game. I would welcome some Mandalorian tie in though, would be kind of sweet to have a run in with the coven.
Honestly I think Ubisoft needs to pull back from the open worlds at some point.
This is like the Star Wars game of my dreams. Was already on board with the classic Ubi sneaky combat and open world, yelled “HOLY SHIT!” when she got in her ship and the player takes control in space. Just freaking awesome.
Aside from what looked like a very fluctuating 30fps on the stream (it could be video issues...hopefully), this looks amazing. I like that they just made the 1313 game, except with fewer Nathan Drake shenanigans, and a more varied worlds to commit crimes in.
I was also surprised by the lack of sabers! So good!
