I really never saw the point of Olivia da Havilland's talking head segments. If Olivia da Havilland and Bette Davis had a real life friendship, I suppose I could buy her involvement

I'm surprised at all the love. I too am a humongous Oscars afficianado and have watched enough GregNJ970 videos (https://www.youtube.com/wat… and Andres Borja videos (https://www.youtube.com/wat… to memorize every acting winner since the 40s or so, so it's really interesting to go and watch this recreation of Bancroft

I've always preferred Anne Bancroft to K-Heps, personally. I don't think K-Heps has done anything to match Graduate, Pumpkin Eater, or Miracle Worker but that's probably just me, and it's not like Anne Bancroft played the Hollywood game either (from what we see here)

Yeah, but what was the grand plan all along?
To steal the Oscar from Bancroft? To hold it for a few nights and feel on top of the world?

But I also don't think Sarandon cared that much. She seemed pretty non-chalante about it in an interview saying something to the effect of "well, i'm pretty sure they had to give it to me by that point, i was hogging so many nominations" with a laugh.

It seems to me to be largely a myth of women not getting along in Hollywood or anything like that as far as I know

yeah, but 2 of those 3 oscars were bs. not that she didn't have a great career but "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" and "On Golden Pond" were pretty bad picks in those respective years if you ask me. Especially, the former, where she's not the best person in the cast (I don't even know why she's lead) and doesn't really

Oh god no!
we don't need a King Kong TV spin-off, it's not meant for any sort of long-running serialized story.

I once got Chris Gethard's attention through a blog post I'd written and then I briefly facebook friends with Chris Gethard and once interviewed him for my blog. Then I lost the interview. I always wanted to know if Chris Gethard forgived me for that.

My mom's 70 and she looks the same as she did 10-15 years ago to me. It's not as big of a deal these days to grracefully age into your 70s

I feel that Hollywood has a history of awarding actors in biopics more fully if they are playing a beloved figure. I personally didn't think that Cate Blanchett was that good in Aviator, I preferred Kate Beckinsdale as Ava Gardener but Hepburn was a more beloved figure than Gardner so I think that's why that happened.

goddamnit, I've gotten to the point where I just have to look up mommie dearest once and for all

damn, good catch!

A goddess of enumerating a national population?

i must have missed that line.Which Marty was that anyway?

great comment

Makes sense because I would have voted for Baxter over Davis and I imagine some people would have voted for Davis. I would have been pleased seeing Baxter win for supporting instead that year. She really does seem very much supporting in the case that she's a foil to the main character narratively.
I don't think the

Ehhhh, I get the sense actors today don't care as much about winning as the Oscar obsessives on the internet

I always assume movie stars don't pay attention to Oscars as much as fans do. At least Alan Arkin, George C Scott, Anna Paquin and JK Simmons seem nonchalant about it

Why exactly did Judy Holiday win anyway? I don't think anyone remembers the film Born Yesterday and I've never seen it but it had better be a pretty damn good performance to even be considered in the same league as the other roles mentioned.
