For some reason Secret Forest didn’t really hook me as well as Signal did. Everyone was so subdued. I’m saving Smart Prison Living for a binge weekend after a really shitty week.

I’m watching “Temptation” right now, all the stupid hair and clothes but knowingly stupid so it’s okay and besides, I’m up for a K-drama version of Liaisons Dangereuses.

Then she’s probably sageuk-oriented. LOTS to mine in that category, though not a ton of them that are mythological. Try “Tree With Deep Roots” for history, “Empress K” is enormously long but interesting... “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” is more k-drama-y in that it’s pure fiction.

“On the Way to the Aiport” is my ace in the pocket - you think Kdramas are for children? Bam, Airport! So good.

Have you seen Healer? Sungkyunkwan Scandal might be one for you too - same female lead as City Hunter in both.

Try Arang and the Magistrate. Mythology, gorgeous costumes, good acting. Negligible supernatural age gap.

Try Reply 1997, maybe. Also Rescue Me, Signal, Healer for pure sugar rush, Arang and the Magistrate... This is my First Life was really good too, and recent. And Chief Kim! Oh, and Just Between Lovers! And Weightlifting Faiy Kim Bok Joo!

What sort of monster exposes you to “Boys Over Flowers” and “Heirs” as a first Korean drama?! (Other than an incurable Lee Min Ho fan.)

Following Tennant is merely a correction of what was formerly a tragic oversight on the part of most of the population. He was onstage most of the time before Who, and basically if you saw him onstage he lodged so firmly in your mind you kept an eye out for him forever after. He’s terrifyingly talented.

Smith can hardly help that he’s Claymation come to life, but yes point taken.

Oh fucking bullshit. Olivia Coleman is more well-known and reputable than Matt Smith at this point, so really all they’re doing is saying “we’re paying the biggest star the most, it’s good luck she’s the lead”. I love Coleman in an indecent way, but using her to somehow say that Foy’s slighting has been balanced is

Hayley Atwell would be fabulous. Whoever gets cast as Mrs Coulter has to be utterly seductive - not in a sexual way, but a charismatic way. Her sharp edges shouldn’t be visible at all, the only sinister sign from her should be the monkey.

When I confessed my sexual harassment story to a guy I used to work with, his response was “I always felt something was off about that guy and I could never figure out what it was. I figured I was being crazy, turned out he was sexually harassing a bunch of women in the office.” Sometimes you get a vibe and you don’t

I’m guessing the leniency being urged by the birth parents is for exactly that reason: they’re doing what they think is best for their child.

I think it’s fair to say that SK has few illusions around the DPRK. But they’re also the ones who get a bit of leeway with this soft-diplomacy stuff. Because if there’s even the faintest smidgen of possibility that soft diplomacy can continue, SK should get the benefit in the form of reuniting families.

I definitely noted the uptick in nudity, but have to say it only took a couple of episodes for the messaging to settle in: bodies are vehicles. The prudish elements just aren’t there, and neither are the ownership/envy elements really. All envy has accrued solidly around money, which if necessary can buy you exactly

The establishment Republicans need to realize their party is dead. It is fully dead. Do not try to revive it. Vote with the Democrats in the next cycle to get us out of this racist, misogynist, embarrassing quagmire and then rename yourselves the Whigs or the Pennypinchers or the Moral Relativists or whatever and come

SK gets to do what it wants in this situation. When a madman has your cousins captive, it’s okay for you to take the optimistic viewpoint and coddle the madman a bit with the hopes he won’t execute your aunt. It’s the rest of the fucking world and media I don’t get one bit.

Unfortunately we can’t leave the president out of it because the goddamn Republicans in Congress are shoring him up. I wish they’d just ditched him when they got their tax cuts, but nope, apparently we’re going to split the government right down the middle, fantastic.

I would find a card or flowers WAY more intrusive than a comment on social media
