This thread is now closed because it's gotten out of control with personal attacks and troll baiting. Drop the issue and move on. You're only being warned once, and this applies to everyone.

@theotherstevejobs: What a tasteless comment. Hate comments towards other cultures and nationalities are not tolerated. You're comment history is also lackluster and quite unproductive. Hope my banhammer doesn't hit you too hard. You are welcome to re-apply in the future however before you do, you should take a

Sam, how does this affect Droid X and future Motorola Android devices that are equipped with eFuse? Does this mean that Motorola has no send an OTA update to disable eFuse? Or can Moto hide behind the curtain of "protecting devices from incompatible software?"

@grubish1: Argument + Troll Closing lines = Troll

@laineyvdw: Check out the following posts:

@zippzom: Yeah, the only automated process is the spam filter (which doesn't autoban, btw). It sifts the link pimpers and stuff and doesn't make them visible for others to see. Sometimes legit comments get caught up, but they're usually not banned or anything.

@zippzom: There's a bajillion exceptions to the rules. The good thing is that the enforcers of these rules are people who have been part of the community for a while. They enforce on sites that they know quite well! They know the culture and comments that go with the culture. It's more of a common sense thing. Think

@ads2k2: And we do notice people. It takes a good comment history to get a star, not just a one-off :) The following post has info on what you can do with your star: [gizmodo.com]

@Standish: Mods have that powah, and it is used quite often!

@Atsumi: Yes, it's a fun game for a lot of us to do that :D But usually its us dedicated readers and longtime upstanding members. Most people just pass it by. gt wht m sng? :)

@ObiHaiv: For many reasons. For example, if a comment says "wow, you're all idiots" that might bait others to reply and flame. If they can't read it, the issue will lie dormant. Sometimes its just an obnoxious comment that doesn't warrant a ban, but a warning. Then we disemvowel and say "hey, that ain't right." And it

@zibzer: Just cause you are an approved commenter on Gizmodo doesn't mean you're approved network wide. Each site has its own rules, community, etc. Gotta earn approval on each site individually :)

@SteveDaveMcQueenNumeroDos: This is why you can petition a ban by shooting an email to an editor or writing a message to the person that banned you. Everyone makes mistakes. I'm not saying you can go running to an editor and they will overrule the ban. Most likely the editor will check out the scenario and consult

@cdubnbird: Luckily, the only automation by computer that is involved is the spam catcher. Sometimes legit comments get tagged as spam, but they don't get banned cause of it. They simply just don't show up.

@zomgzombies: But as you can see, it was more of a slap on the wrist. Lots of lenient mods around here ;)

@princeofdenmark: When someone disemvowels a comment, it removes all the vowels from that comment.

@USMarty_v.2: You can still comment on other sites as your original account was only Gizmodo-banned.

@Ah Yes: Banned for that link

@ohnoesaz: Star commenters can't ban. They can only promote gray comments.

@MazdaMania: Because the ones who get their stars taken away are making obnoxious, insulting, trollish comments. There's plenty of pro-apple commenters with stars that actually know what constructive criticism means and don't ignite flames and spew out hate while claiming to do so under the constructive criticism flag.
