That because competitive play of a strategy/rts/isometric game would probably rely heavily on keyboard shortcuts anyway. I'm more into action games, not isometric genres, but I know that the best controller in such games is the keyboard itself.

This is a kind of thing I would surely buy because I trust Valve and I want to support the company. Don't know if it would replace my traditional gaming tools, but I would buy it anyway.

Is just the post-launch enthusiasm. Rockstar is lesser than Valve in the industry by a lot. Valve is doing much more significant things right now. It's just that they are not available right now, and they don't sit in your face, they're not so obvious.
