I came to AC way late and Syndicate was actually my first game in the series. In terms of sheer fun and playability, I think it’s still at the top of my list.
That’s funny, I’m actually enjoying Liberation more than I did 3 (had never played either original). 3 was just so sprawling and constantly distracting you from the urgent objective you were supposed to pursue in favor of things that seemed tangential to the plot and largely low stakes. Read more
Just remember, the season pass also comes with two full games (AC 3 and Liberation). If you haven’t played those, even at full price it’s a pretty sweet deal.
This review feels a bit like one long humble brag. Read more
That’s definitely the risk! Fortunately, never happened to me. The bright side is you learn some real online courtesy when you’re afraid of personal ramifications. The downside is you can’t play anything you’re not at least decent at.

You’re not alone. I really wanted to love this game and just lost momentum around 15 hours in. The darkness and constant backtracking without any moments of accomplishment began to feel oppressive. I would dread going back to the dungeon. Maybe that’s immersive, but it’s also self-defeating since...you know...going… Read more
“Push us to piracy.” As though a game is like a medication that you can’t live without, so you _have_ to steal it if the price is higher than you think it should be. Boo.
This really was never about what games I like or don’t like—I know that’s the immediate interpretation when someone is critical in articles like these. Obviously I’m here because I typically like the insights and coverage that Jason provides, and I’m disappointed this year that his takeaways are so vanilla. Read more
You’re right that absolutely no one cares about my list.
Ha, you’re right. I played it for the first time this year, got confused there. Sorry about that : /
