Oh good God yes. (except for that 8 series grand coupe, that thing is gorgeous.) But literally every other car they make is boring or kinda tacky.

Wow I fucking hate that grill. That is an abomination that needs to be nuked from orbit.
I’ll just throw my hat in the ring, BMW. Call me. My platform is a return to hydraulic steering except in SUVs, smaller kidney grilles, a new M1 and a sub-Z4 roadster that sells for $5k more than the Miata.
I’m sorry, failing to capitalise on EVs, which still have tiny market share in absolute terms, is not BMW’s problem. The real issue is they look like shit, inside and out. I’d consider myself exactly the kind of driving-focused person who’d be in BMW’s DNA (and indeed I’ve owned BMWs in the past) and yet there’s not a…
No, there has to be a third option of something better than Bangle! They are bland with big butt cheeks glued to the front, you can’t tell the difference between a BMW interior, a Mazda, or a VW. The technology and small screens simultaneously appear dated and overly complex (compared to a Volvo or Tesla)
Well, BMW have been playing it safe and BORING on styling, bland on dynamics, greedy on option packages, and garbage on reliability. What does a loaded 340 that costs 60+ with a lot of options do better than the 400 hp Infinity? Or even a Stinger GT is really close in a lot of areas and tops out way cheaper. In…

The <1200kg sedan with sharp uncomplicated lines.
The Ultimate Driving Machine.
100% agree. They made their cars more conservative, barely changed the exteriors from one generation to the next, and fell way behind on the interior game. Sitting in an equivalently priced BMW, Audi, and Mercedes, and BMW is easily the worst.
1000% agree. The designs are bulbous and the driving dynamics suck. They are so far from where they were in the late 90s/early 2000s it’s depressing.
Ultimate driving machine to ultimate meh machine.
It’s almost like largely abandoning their fanbase was a mistake, or something....
Maybe just building bland cars with massively unhealthy kidney grilles wasn't a good plan
Because article clicks, yo
1st Gear:
I believe they are also profitable in Europe. Less so but still making money.
Click-baity headline is click-baity.
They were. Very much so. The headline is beyond terrible.
Hell, they made $1.146 billion in net profit after tax last quarter. That would have been closer to $1.75 billion if not for costs to close plants in Europe.
It’s Europe they’re really talking about in that article - trying to return Europe to profitability. …
