The main thing Tesla has created which VW’s engineering prowess cannot match is the cache of the name Tesla on the grille. Teslas are still cool. When given the choice of a $35-40k Tesla vs VW, guess which will win most of the time? If VW matches the Model 3 on specs for $5-10k less then they may get somewhere.
