To me, not so much white people, as City Folk. As a farm kid, I’ve seen all the pick your own, organic stuff I care to see. I love the farmer’s market; I just don’t want to be out in the sweltering hot field picking okra while my arms breakout from the spines.

I think cats who have not been outside are very freaked out by the fact there are so many smells and no ceiling - and with a harness on, they feel like they can’t get away and hide. So no wonder they feel freaked out and terrified :-/

I think burnout is a growing problem. Especially for those of us who are late in our careers. I’d love to leave my job; but I’ve had no takers after several years of interviews. The idea of training for something different (but still has insurance and pays enough to cover the mortgage) is exhausting.
That’s a hoot because young workers bolt for greener pastures too all the time. Anyone will bolt for a better deal :-) I think they are trying to soften the blow to you. No offense, I’m sure you’d be awesome, given the chance.

Ironically the western part of NC was very Federalist during the Civil War. But, you do not have to have owned slaves to have benefited from the free labor that built the economy of the US. The entire country benefited, not just the planters. And we’ve benefited in the generations since by keeping wages unnaturally…
