Humans can adapt to some pretty incredible circumstances, and convince themselves it’s normal.

There is a dark, small part of me that has acknowledged that privilege. I know if I keep my head down and just go about my business, getting my things in order, I’ll be fine. I know I can save enough to bypass conservative social policies if need be (I’m less than an hour from Canada). I’m shielded in many ways.

I fucking hate that. They acted like the world was ending for 8 years, and what was at risk? Gun rights, according to the NRA? Obama expanded gun rights. Trump openly campaigns on shit that is problematic for ALL OF US. And has already begun erasing our existing work on civil rights/LGBT rights, climate change, etc.

That gives me some hope.
