I think maybe you were expecting too much from a half-hour pilot. If it never gets better than this, obviously, it won’t be much of anything. But there’s definite potential.

Lorca is a great example of a good character who is not a good person (nor a villain). I like that he’s on the show, but nowhere does it say “hey check out this upstanding fellow.”
He’s a terrific character among several of the best Star Trek characters yet. It’s an awesome show, but some people have been waaay invested in hating this one for an awfully long time, so what’re you going to do.
I don’t think it’s fair to put the drunken master fight scene from Iron Fist on the “worst” list because of metatextual concerns.
