True. I just don’t think it’s a fair comparison because Russ’ game features some obvious flaws in a way MJ’s didn’t. I agree that team success is a bad way to judge individual players, but I think we CAN judge players on how particular aspects of their game contribute to winning/losing, outside of counting stats.

One of the interesting things about players orchestrating so much of their own movement is that we get to see that they’re, um, not very good at being GMs.

Michael Jordan was a 50% shooter (even higher in his younger days)! Russ is a career 43%. MJ was DPOY in his pre-championship years. Russ, um, is not known for that side of the ball.

He’s a great player, but I have two issues...

There was a guy who just got traded that could have helped the Cavs! In fact, their GM was supposedly in serious talks for him before he got shitcanned. Instead, Minnesota got him, and the Cavs are now looking to add some of Lebron’s old friends. LOL

The problem with this potential deal is it adds another player who uses a lot of possessions, without moving Kyrie. Carmelo would be even worse in this regard. If Lebron is their most efficient player, how does acquiring an additional player who will take shots away from him, at a lower percentage, help?

Look, I’m not anti-sex work, but I don’t think it’s moralizing to suggest that a government employee, using public resources, to provide 16-18 year old boys/young men with sex as a recruiting tool, is like, wrong.

When he reaches restricted free agency, he can sign a one year tender with the Knicks instead of another team’s offer sheet (or long-term deal with NYK), essentially making him an unrestricted FA the following year. I think that’s still how it works.

Then there’s the whole constantly badmouthing Carmelo for being a possession stopper, but he’s disappointed Kristaps isn’t spending more time dribbling with his back to the basket? What the hell? Besides, post play and defensive patience are like, two things that should come with age and coaching anyway.

Well, Tebow was signed to 4 different teams. So he got the chances to compete for jobs, at least. Kap is looking like he might not even get an invite to a training camp.

I think he’d be a fine back-up for Derek Carr. Also makes some sense as he’s already familiar with the area, and would be close to home. So, yep, I think I’d prefer him to EJ Manuel, who is also fine, tbh.

Wait, he’s only under team control for 2 more seasons, no? This upcoming year (17-18), and the option for next year (18-19), and he becomes restricted following the end of the 18-19 year?

I don’t know. Things ended badly, though, it seemed to only be bitter one-way, from Sandoval’s side. I certainly recognize the huge part he played in 3 world series wins, and just the transition from the Bonds years to the glorious first half of this decade. No hard feelings here, anyway.
