FIFA has a (somewhat understandable, actually) moratorium on a regional federation hosting a World Cup if it did in the past 2 cycles. That means that Asia is out for 2026 and 2030, since Qatar is hosting the 2022 Cup. That leaves Africa (S. Africa hosted the only WC that they’ve ever had), and South America

The owner might be gad, but he’s not the one that’s responsible for the stadium deal; that happened while AEG is the owner.

Actually, it was the iPhone 6S. Doxx here:

Taxi drivers were already independent contractors in most places; the company name on the side is an association that they paid in to join. Not that I don’t agree with you on needing a strong social safety net, but there have long been a lot of people that fell through the cracks of being counted as “employees”

In most places in the US, taxi drivers are all independent, too. The company name on the side is the association, which handles things like dispatching (“we have a call for a ride at 123 Main St”) and marketing, and often regulates which vehicles you drive and when they’re replaced (in some places, they own the

Remember back in the day when they’d hilariously dub over offensive lines in movies to make them safe for broadcast TV, and, yes, airplanes?

Well, per the original post: The thing isn’t if you dig a hole, it’s when you employ people in a capacity that’s potentially dangerous.

All kinds of people benefit from a lot of the improvements made to sidewalks “for people with disabilities.” Flush curb cuts are a great example - kids (who bike in sidewalks in my neighborhood) - can go across intersections with a lower risk of getting tossed off their bikes; people with rolling carry on luggage, or

Random question, but is it often the case that owners (particularly ones who take dote on their cars) think that it’s “dealer ready,” when actually, it’s just clean and in normal shape?

I appreciate your arguments, but I still think “unbundling” is good overall, EXCEPT that I think airlines need to do a better job communicating the “bundles.” (There’s technical limitations that reduce how this can easily be done outside of airline’s websites, but that’s not the consumer’s fault.)

If “Cheating Diesels” isn’t a band name already, it really should be.

Standard advice to a lot of people with HOAs is to provide documentation for your claim before going to the association, and the best way to do this is by having say, a signed police report.

Nobody’s forcing you to live in a place with an HOA.

Really? I’ve never had an issue in years. It’s functionally the same thing as sending a check (in fact, if they don’t have electronic info on the biller, that’s what they do).

That’d feel great if only most Americans personal financial fortunes were dominated by the stock industry, but they’re not. I think I did pretty decently over the past 8 years, but even then, my personal income didn’t go up 180% over the past 8 years (in fact, it’s up about 80%, and I think that’s way above average).

That’s terrible, but all too common.

They exist, but they’re not on sale. Unlike microUSB (USB-A) wall chargers, I’d think about how much power I really needed first: A charger that can work for your USB-C phone and also charge say, your iPad and a Bluetooth speaker might not have enough juice to power your USB-C MacBook and other devices.

Doesn’t (didn’t?) Amazon use a series of shell companies for its fulfillment centers, partly for tax reasons, and partly (I’m guessing?) to avoid unions? User makes an order on Amazon.com, product is sold by Amazon but in a warehouse owned by something like AZ-123 Ohio Inc., which pays the employees.

I agree that dimmable is a really good feature (even for kitchens, etc! if you have an open concept house, or even if you walk between rooms, it’s good to have things at a consistent light level. Plus, lowering the lighting at night may help your body realize that it’s getting later), but this is a 4 pack for $14,
