I liked it at the time. I wanted the Pontiac version, the 6000 STE, but couldn’t afford it. The model has held up well.

I agree. I grew up in the 3rd world and I know what a Citroën 2CV or a Renault 4 is really like, and what it feels like when you’re not a hipster but rather someone who just can’t afford anything better.
Most HPDE events are open to any make, not just the club’s make. I usually HPDE with PCA, and there are all sorts of cars in my group: Audis, Subarus, BMWs...
I see, thanks.
Why does the guard’s uniform say “OKHRANA”? I thought that was the name of the Tsarist secret police? Is this from 2017 or 1917?
Also, app cannot fix rude asshole drivers who won’t take you where you want to go because they feel entitled to higher-paying trips.
Pfft, an amateur. She is using both hands to eat when only one is necessary. The other could be filling out tax forms.
Interesting. I’ve been told the opposite. Maybe things changed in the past year or two?
(I happen to know you have a Porsche...) At our PCA (Potomac) events, they will absolutely black flag you in any run group if you power oversteer. Among other things, the track operator doesn’t like it, apparently.
At the track events (HPDEs) that I go to, yes, you would be black flagged for that. It’s not punitive. They just want to make sure from you and your instructor that you understand the line, braking technique, etc.
There’s even less excuse for that in VA/MD because they typically paint arrows on the entry lanes showing where you should be if you want to go straight through, turn left, or turn right.
Well, true, there’s that. They have their signals on from 4 miles away and never noticed them.
Hey, I’m the one with the BMW!
Please, please, signal when you are about to exit. Otherwise people about to enter don’t know that you’re exiting and are forced to stop and wait, defeating the entire purpose of a roundabout.
It can protect you if you’re upside down in financing, or if you have a particularly hard to find car that still depreciates. When I bought my Porsche I got replacement insurance from my regular auto insurance policy. It cost a bit more. However, then Porsche stopped making the model I bought, so I didn’t really see…
Correct. I flew to an interview with American early in my career. I was told I was representing AA on the flight even though I was not an employee, because they had given me free first class passes. I wore a suit both ways.
Be aware, there is no one thing called your FICO score. There are multiple scores, with different factors, that different industries use. Discover and Amex show the score that most credit card providers use. It’s different from the ones mortgage lenders use. Not by huge amounts, but different.
Star for Bojack avatar.
I moved to the US in 1980, and I remember thinking I never smell exhaust fumes in traffic like I used to in other countries. A few cars still ran without cats, and like you say, you could always smell them.
Exactly. I gave up a bunch of stuff to afford my Porsche. It’s like any other financial decision - there’s always something else you can do with the money. The question is which one would you rather do.
