How am I Backpedaling?
I’m not justifying Racism or Racial insensitivity.
I’m explaining where it might come from.
Nintendo did the right thing in apologizing because Nintendo is a Global Entity...but yeah that’s what they pay PR / Marketing for..

All I’m saying is you can’t really fault the game makers in Japan for being racially insensitive. Japan is a historically homogenous country and they still hold very strong nationalistic beliefs and are often hostile/uncomfortable towards foreigners.
Japanese game makers specifically might consume foreign media, but…
Like how you assume with my words. Yes there obviously is a high level of nationalism in Japan because it is a historically homogenous country.
A lot of people out of sheer ignorance are going to be racially/ethnically insensitive there because they don’t have as much exposure to various parts of world history there.
I…
YEah I mean Nintendo is a Global entity and as a result needs to make up for the shortcomings of subordinates with less cultural sensitivity.
And they’re on top of that. But yeah, sometimes these sort of “insensitive” things will just sneak in and because of the nature of games these days allowing for demos and patches…
I agree its about what that imagery evokes in other people is important. But giving Nintendo the benefit of the doubt...Japanese game developer’s perspective of foreign cultures tend to be very limited by their lack of exposure.
Lol wut? Every race in WC3 is fairly different and distinguished.
Every hero makesfor completely different strategies in creeping and in battle. And no 2 heroes really felt the same.
Every race has solutions to things but a lot of these strategies are in different tiers too. And as for generic units, yes, The Frozen…
I’m inclined to agree with you from a lore perspective...
But let’s be honest. Legion-based Zones / Raids have gotten extremely old.
Like we see the same demons, maybe with the introduction of some new demons, while all the background is splattered with Fel Flames, Fel tainted ground, fel everything.
And it could’ve…
Pretty much crowd control should essentially have diminishing returns OR they should make certain crowd control effects less effective against heavier heroes.
I kinda like the idea of heavyweight tank character having more resistance to certain crowd control than Lightweight charactersas it just makes more sense.
First off, Bonesplitter is iconic because it’s one of the first Basic Equipment that was introduced into the game in Mirrodin.
It’s literally the bare basics of what an equipment should do especially in the common slot.
Overpowered pieces of equipment are more memorable in their effect on the meta, but let’s face it...
Wh…
Bonesplitter is one of the classics, not sure why you’re hating on it.
That and Loxodon Warhammer are pretty iconic for some of the original equipment.
In other words, Employees of Video Game companies are treated like people in the Japanese Anime Industry. Understaffed, overworked, with employers who dont give a damn except that deadlines are met.
Have you seen Toad in early Mario party games? He’s a total dick while you try to beat him in minigames on story mode to unlock stuff.
I actually appreciate this post, not only for its specific content...but for the fact that it isn’t the click-bait title with close to no content but maybe a link a lot of other writers at Kotaku try to pass of as news articles.
Not really. Challenge of a task always has a difficulty.
My overall point was it’s easier for the person to hit the Ball coming from the same predictable path since a machine is throwing it repeatedly in the same area regardless of an instrument..
Vs what a MLB player actually does when swinging a bat against a MLB…
@Jace123, I mean yeah, there’s simply less surface area on a Sword to make contact with the ball so it’s obvious its harder to hit something with a bat than sword.
My point was just that the machine spits the ball on the same predictable course so it’s dramatically easier to hit it if you know where it’s going to be…
Aging is a legitimate excuse...
There’s a reason Pro Starcraft players in South Korea tend to retire past a certain age...
Reflexes are important in a competition where inputs down to the millisecond make a difference....
Good Lord.... “From Software held off on making ladder mimics (to the delight of a grateful universe)”.
I think Dark Souls would’ve thoroughly traumatized me if it made Door, Ladder, or Furniture Mimics.
I mean it’s just the disconnect because you picture Lara Croft as a seasoned veteran, confident in what she does...while this girl is a younger, more awkward take on her I think.
Like the Uncharted games would not nearly be as good if you started playing with Nathan Drake’s origin story or what not because you…
OMG IM DYING, looked at one of the comments for one of these videos and it just killed me.
“Wanna make an Orphanage, You have to create a few orphans”
The 3 series everyone wants but won’t ever get...Gargoyles and Duck Tales, and Darkwing Duck.
