Which — and I’ve been a mom for 10 years now and have the special needs kid gold star, so I get to say this — is just absurd, I’m sorry. Yes, being a mom is relentless, important work. And yes, motherhood was disregarded and devalued by the patriarchy for waaaay too long.

Oh my god that is the BEST name. I need to go hunt the photos now.

I don’t want to be alarmist, but I think this trend of taking everything celebrities say personally has gone too far.

That actually makes a lot of sense, and it makes me sad that people who don’t want to jump into bed right away have to use a seven-syllable word to get potential romantic partners to back off.

Somebody on my Twitter feed was saying not to “pornshame” Ted. I say a)this is actually a step up from Zodiac Killer shaming him and b)It’s not shaming him for liking porn, it’s shaming him for either being dumb enough to like a porn clip from his work account or hiring social media staff that would do so.

I checked Wiki and you’re right. He got married on Aug. 26th and they have a baby daughter. So I think (and hope for his wife’s sake) that he means platonic reconciliation with Katy, which is of course lovely.

Can’t watch the video right now, but I assumed the unusual visuals were to keep us off-balance. We’re seeing that world through Elliot’s eyes, and odd framing choices serve to keep us in something like his unsettled frame of mind.

The idea that there can’t be multiple female singers with the same hair color is profoundly sad, and says more about how sexist the world Debby grew up in was than anything else.

It’s pretty rich that somebody famous mostly for who she married is setting herself up as the judge of what is or is not feminist enough.

Yep, unlikable and very flat. The characters didn’t seem to grow much over the novel.

Now I see what you mean, and ew.

I thought her power was the slingshot stuff, and the sex was more a side benefit.

Same here. I mean, I thought it was weird, but I felt the same way about all sex scenes at the time — sex was just so far removed from my reality that it didn’t really matter whether it was two grown-ups in a bed or eight 12-year-olds in a sewer. (Also, despite the lack of knowledge I was madly curious about sex in

Meh. I’m gonna quote my GoodReads reviw of the book:

Because he was printing literal piles of money for whoever his publishing house at the time was, and it was kinda like how JK Rowling got to write 400 pages of Hermione and Harry hanging out in the woods — you don’t want to piss off the golden goose.

Wasn’t this when he was drinking and doing a lot of coke? Like, a loooooot of coke?

Now playing

Counterpoint: I was 12 and It was fucking terrifying.

They both seem nice, and it’s nice when nice people are happy?

Search on YouTube for his work on “The War at Home.” He’s playing a closeted gay teen. It’s so-so mediocre sitcom so it’s not necessarily the best showcase for Rami’s talents, but it does show he has range that goes well beyond Elliot.

I dunno, there’s something to be said for casting an Egyptian-American guy instead of a British-Jewish guy to play the former Farrokh. If nothing else this kept the producers from having to fight about whitewashing.
