Baseball has an extremely aggressive, zero-tolerance policy on players gambling on baseball that came about in the 1920s in response to widespread corruption and match-fixing. Basically, the people in charge of baseball decided that if they didn’t take drastic measures, no one would watch the sport.

DREW MAGARY, KING OF ALL HERBS, WRITES FOR YOUR WEBSITE

You didn’t see this KD when he was playing with Westbrook because he was playing with Westbrook

Two points.

Maybe the other teams should try playing better

Not really, but I can see why people are saying it.

Doc Rivers should frankly get way more shit than he does as a GM and a coach. The Clippers have had an astonishing lack of accomplishment for a team built around a top 5 all-time point guard and two elite big men. It’s completely insane.

I agree that Hinkie was bad at player development in Philly. I think Hinkie would also agree with that. I think he was just wrong about how important player development was.

Yeah, their situation could definitely be a lot worse (which is one of the reasons it’d be really interesting to see what Hinkie would do). Skal and WCS both seem pretty real, Buddy’s a competent player whatever his ceiling is, and they have a bunch of pieces hanging around. They have a lot riding on the lottery

It’s the rare combo of an extremely low bar that’s also very difficult to clear (in that the people who have no idea what they’re doing are also the people making the decision about who to hire).

This is just stupid at this point. Nothing Sam Hinkie has ever said or done has given the impression that he thinks that tanking is the answer to every problem, or that he values draft picks above all else. And the Kings’ roster and situation is radically different from the situation that Hinkie faced when he took

Thinking that the only thing that’s worth hoping for is a shot at a ring this year is not at all Hinkie-think. Hinkie-think is that you take an unbiased look at your roster and your assets, and you figure out what your path to contention is, and then you get incredibly ruthless about following that path and don’t care

The Celtics might not win have a chance at winning a title this season but they have an extremely competent front office (Danny Ainge’s addiction to leaking aside) and an excellent platform in terms of assets and players to be competitive over the next 5 years.

It’s not an achievement in absolute terms, but the Kings really were beating their asses in the first half. Draymond got ejected and it felt like the Warriors just didn’t care and the Warriors announcers were palpably worried, all that kind of thing. And then all of a sudden the Warriors just turned it on and

People thought he wasn’t worthy of the Hall of Fame in 2007, and had their minds changed by a decade of long and vigorous debate

Boogie Was Right
