The 1st MY scenarios I would be leery of would be those with entirely new powertrains that are not broadly used across the lineup. My dream would be to get my hands on a CT6-V, but the 1st year of the brand new Blackwing would make me nervous.  

Honestly, it’s not sexy, but I may be on the hunt for a new or slightly used large sedan given the current prices. A well-optioned Impala or its upscale chassis-mate XTS and a Taurus SHO are on the list.

I get the compelling argument that mid and full size trucks are more attractive than their sedan counterparts (utility, resale, durability), but how do truck owners, i.e., those that have a truck in place of a sedan, account for unsecure cargo in the bed?

Great points - another key wrinkle is what time zone are you in vs. your spouse? For a 5-year stretch, I traveled internationally for work and was gone for 2-3 weeks a clip each quarter. We would try our best, but one of us was always talking to the other during their middle of the night.   We were both exhausted…
