I’d suggest a Fiesta ST. Those can be found for under $10k without an obscene number of miles on them, they’re fun on mountain roads, easy to park.

I just bought my first bike at the beginning of the year. It’s in storage at the moment, because I live in Chicago and early spring weather is the very definition of fickle, and I desperately want to ride it right now.

I think it’s also a matter of how that horsepower is delivered. It’s really easy for someone who hasn’t ridden a bike to get on, twist the throttle too hard, and wind up getting hurt.

I still subscribe to a number of print sources—including Automobile, which...well—but you’re right: before the internet, magazines were the best way for people to get news and consumer info. Now, not so much.
