I've only been to one PJ show, but it is one of the best concert experiences I've ever had. Thanks for so eloquently reminding me about what a great night that was.
Thanks for the info!
I'm not Jewish, and while my boss is and I've learned some stuff from her over the years, she's not Orthodox so she doesn't adhere to those stricter guidelines. So that article in the local weekly was the first time I'd ever heard of it.
If the Jews were really behind it, you would've seen them. Those strings are not very thick at all, make for a terrible hiding place.
With strings:

Because when did a lack of a plot ever stop Michael Bay before?
Do you have difficulty counting to fifteen, or did you not bother to read the article before bitching and are just relying on the little numerals presented in front of the paragraphs (some of which deal with more than one film)?
I haven't seen Ghost in at least a decade, and in my head, I'd apparently recast the scary-ass Willie role with Luis Guzman. (I blame Community)
Except her voice is the exact opposite of Betty's. Scarlett is all alto rasp and Betty is decidedly not.
Your coworker sounds like my spirit animal. But I gotta disagree with her on the "3 max" rule.
You're still assuming that they would have attributed an ethnicity to Wall-E when they are saying flat out that they didn't. Again:
They only counted speaking characters and "Characters that did not speak but were referred to by name." Unless you assume all the non-speaking characters were ninjas or in Halloween costumes, for most of them they had at least two different pieces of information to add together.
Then read that way, yeah, Perry wouldn't come close to cracking the Top 100 for the 7 year span, that's for sure. His numbers tend to be in the bottom half of the Top 100 for a given year.
No, it means that you're lambasting their work without bothering to even read it. They clearly address your concerns in the footnotes:
If crushing on a funny+cute person is wrong, I don't want to be right, because I am positively smitten with Ron Funches.
It can't really count as "Latino representation" if there is nothing onscreen indicating that the character has any Latino ties. The way that the study would determine if it was a "white character with a Latino background" would be if said Latino background were somehow referenced or otherwise acknowledged on-screen.
You're very wrong, actually. Tyler Perry has had at least one movie (and usually two!) among the Top 100 grossing films in every year being studied (2007-2013)
They examined 600 movies total. Their overall research looks at films from 2007-2013. The 100 listed in the table are only for 2013, because they were looking deeper into the numbers of that year in particular since it was considered a "banner year" for black film because of 12YAS, The Butler, etc.
My family and I can recite huge chunks of "Live at the Met" on demand. It's a cornerstone of our family's sense of humor, the source of a million in-jokes and references, the soundtrack to dozens of road trips.
