I gave up on Discovery after the first episode. For my Star Trek fix, I’m watching The Orville.

You can practically hear some knee-knocking halfwit exec saying “but if no one is connected to Kirk or Spock, how will people knows is about the Star Treks???”

If they switched Sarek for Tuvok and set the show in the far-off future after VOY/DS9/TNG series, the show would be better for it and they’d keep their “known Vulcan connection”- granted, Tuvok is less known, but does it really matter?

I’m glad I’m not alone in seeing this. Every headline and article has been almost vitriolic, which is beginning to undermine the author’s credibility a bit.

Exactly. Beth should remember that while she might be well-versed on gender and trans issues, the average Fox viewer isn’t, and thus the show can speak to them as it would speak to her.  It is fine to point out where the episode could be improved, but this article just dismiss the whole thing as regressive crap…

I did watch the video and honestly it’s not that much of an improvement. You just get to see more of it. And the point is as geeks we should know better than anyone that early footage of CGI might not be fully rendered and render judgement accordingly.
