Totally agree, I own helmets ranging from $99 to $899 and the $800 as far as I'm concerned pays for comfort and lightness not protection. I had an x-lite x-551 and I'm certain it was no more "safe" than my fly trekker, but man was it ever a way nicer place to spend a day.

I would carry one of these on my motorbike for emergencies, My hydration pack holds three gallons, but that's only good for about half a really hot day. If I got stranded somewhere absurd it would be a great back up plan.
