I’m personally in favor of forgiving “rich” people’s debt if it means everyone else gets their debt forgiven. Means testing almost always leaves people behind and the government putting dividing lines of a few thousand dollars in welfare programs is an issue.

I think the interest is ridiculous but I’m mostly blind to that, given my own situation. If we could have any sort of relief and it’s the elimination/reduction of interest, fine, so be it! They just need to do anything at all.
Among the many ways this is such a cruel, unforced error, is that they aren’t even trying to negotiate the debt cancellation. It seems, from a read through Twitter, that plenty of people would find it acceptable if they eliminated the interest/lowered the interest on the loans.
Adults with children really need a fresh slap in the face about sharing videos/photos of their kids on public social media accounts
